About Peter S. Cohan

Three Decades at the Intersection of Strategy, Technology & Growth

Peter S. Cohan

Peter S. Cohan has spent three decades at the exact intersection where technology, markets, and strategy collide. He founded Peter S. Cohan & Associates in 1994 after working as a case team leader at The Monitor Company — Michael Porter's strategy consulting firm — and in senior strategy roles at Bank of Boston and Liberty Mutual.

What makes his perspective unique is that he has never been merely an observer. His seven venture investments include three exits worth a combined $2 billion and SoFi Technologies, which went public at an $18 billion valuation. He has written over 1,000 articles for Forbes since 2011, taught strategy to executives and MBA students on five continents, and published 17 books tracing every major technology inflection point from the dot-com era through today's generative AI transformation.

As an Associate Professor at Babson College — the world's leading entrepreneurship institution — he chairs the AI in Teaching Task Force and leads the capstone strategy curriculum. He lives in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

His brother is William D. Cohan, the bestselling financial journalist. His career began, he has said, with a desire to be "a poet, then a concert pianist, then an architect" — before discovering that strategy consulting let him do all three at once.
